Q: What on earth is the color run? All my friends have been talking about it!
A: “The happiest 5,000 meters on the planet! ” The color run is untimed, noncompetitive 5k, where a variety of bright colored paints are thrown your way as you run or walk through the event.
Q: When will it be held?
A: October 15th!
Q: Where will it be held?
A: Grove 4 in Johnson Park
Q: I’m a broke high schooler! How much does it cost to participate?
A:
Q: I’m a lazy high schooler. Why should I participate in the Color Run?
A: The Color Run is a great way to stop being lazy! The marathon is not the only way to burn some calories. In fact, there are also a bunch of games that you could play on the sidelines like frisbee, Spike All, and more!
Q: Where are the funds from the Color Run going towards?
A: This year proceeds will go to the class of 2018, the Wounded Warrior Project, and Bridge of Books, two organizations that help two very important groups of people: soldiers and children. By contributing your money, you will be helping the cause!
Q: What is the difference between the Make A Wish Hallow Walk and the Color Run?
A: The first key difference would have to be in timing. The Make A Wish hallow Walk is held during one period of the school day, while the Color Run is set to happen on a weekend.
5,000 meters, so close yet so far. A non-athletic me was dying next to my super-fit friend as I slowly jogged and she reluctantly stopped, waited, and then continued throughout our memorable marathon in Johnson Park. Her annoyed face slowly transformed into one barking out pure laughter. My frown turned into a smile. The colors were sent flying out at us as we sped by different locations of the park making the experience filled with anticipation and excitement. In the end, the laughter we experienced was ever so resonant, the runner’s high at it’s peak! Not to mention, the act of having helped a great cause left our chests puffed out. Perhaps some of us even stood taller, prouder. Who wouldn’t want to experience this again?
