About Us
The Highland Fling is Highland Park High School’s student-run newspaper which was established in the 1900s. Since then, the newspaper has continued over many years, encouraging students to develop a passion for journalism and writing as well as dutifully reporting the news of Highland Park High School. Since journalism does not exist as a class, students dedicate many hours outside of the classroom to reporting, writing, and editing. The Fling, under the advisory of English teacher, Mr. Roche, still manages to produce quality monthly issues with a small staff of less than 40 students in a small high school of just over 500 students. Despite going through many appearance changes as well as adding an online news site, The Fling remains a traditional outlet for HPHS students to voice their opinions and report on the latest high school news.
